Here comes the Sun - 28th June Afternoon Retreat with Amanda Winburn
We invite you to celebrate the summer solstice with Amanda Winburn.
At the solstice, the sun appears to stand still before it changes direction. We too will be still, pause and reflect on the year so far. The energy the solstice provides us is yang in nature, expansive and outward looking. So it’s important during this time to stay centred and grounded. Our afternoon will focus on our Manipura chakra, the solar plexus. It’s our centre of strength, stamina and vitality.
On arrival at our beautiful venue, we will take hot teas and treats together, then gather in a circle for a traditional puja ceremony. This is a Hindu worship ritual where we offer prayers and devotion to the deities.
We then take to our mats and use this opportunity to meditate, the summer solstice represents a powerful shift in nature, a time of abundance, growth and inner illumination, looking at what no longer serves us and create space within to absorb the new intentions fully.
To fuel the Prana behind the intention we will practice an ancient Himalayan Kundalini breath practice to harmonise the body’s solar and lunar energies.
Moving into Sattva and Hatha flow a powerful practice that explores your inner self by combining breath work, mantra, kriya and hatha flow to bring liberation and a feeling of freedom, the connection with the now.
Feeling uplifted and balanced we unite over a vegetarian lunch and sweet treats.
Then back to our mats for Yin and flow working again with the manipura chakra.
The day will end with restorative poses, and finally grounding down on our mats to open the solar plexus to the sounds and vibrations of Himalayan and Crystal bowls.
The energy of the summer solstice is not limited to one single day, embrace the summer solstice within you and allow its light to guide you from this day retreat and beyond.
All levels welcome
